Pre-Production:
We
should have a lengthy phone or email conversation(s) about what your
goals are and what you envision the video to look like. Also what is
the mood, this will greatly alter the feeling of your video.
1) length of the video
2) main goal
3) points of focus
4) call to action
I
will be frank with what we are capable of for the budget that is being
discussed. After we come to an agreement I will start working on the
project.
Script:
I
will write the first draft of the script, then we can revise the script
as much as needed. The script is the heart of your video, each sentence
should lead to a new thought and should promote the qualities of your
business. Also the thoughts should link from one to another in a
logical order. If you or your marketing team wants to write the script
that is a-okay.
120 words is one minute of video read at normal
pace. Even if you can fit more words into a minute it is nice to have
"breathing" room between line so the video isn't a constant wall of
talking.
Budget:
Once
the script is approved I will send it out to be read. After the script
has been read there will be additional charges for any changes to the
script. The additional cost will be based on how much of the script is
altered. When you give me the go ahead make sure that you are 100%
happy with the script.
While I want you to be happy with your
video I also need to get paid for the time that I have invested. Once
the change limit has been reached you will be charged my hourly rate.
If
the altered script is longer than the agreed upon length, there will be
additional charges for the additional production time and extended
voice over.
Another quick way to go over budget is additional
visuals. Say after the video is completed you wanted to add an image or
video scene, and this was not in the original contract, that footage
will need to be shot or bought.
Production:
This
is the long part of the process and usually takes 2 to 4 weeks once the
script is sent out, not from when we start the project.
Voice Over:
Once we get close to finishing the script you should pick out a voice over artist to read your script. When I send out a voice over to be read I will give 3 to 5 options.
Artwork:
At
that point I will get the screen shots, video caputres, any logos, and
graphics for the video. Art in vector form is by far the best format. I
will need your companies colors in RGB to be accurate on screen. Your
logo(s) preferably in vector form. Vector art can be stretched
infinitely without becoming pixalied.
Music:
Music
is a tough one, I typically end up listening for days before I find a
few I like, there compliment the voice over and fit the lenght of the
video. If there is a style such as jazz, techno, classical that your
interested in let me know.
Post-Production:
Once
the video has been edited and approved I will give you an AVI or
MOV and a FLV file. These files will be used by your online video
platform for distribution.
Due Date:
Unfortunately
nothing in video is quick or easy, a one second change to single shot
results in several hours or rendering, encoding and uploading time.
Last minute changes can push the project past the established due date.
Also delays on your input will push the deadline back.
